These terms cover your use of this website and calculator, and the terms on which we quote for and carry out tree work.

Who we are. Croydon Tree Surgeon. Phone: 07881 305352.
1. Information, not advice. The information on this website, including our guides, is general information about tree work, tree protection rules and costs. It isn't legal, financial, insurance or engineering advice. Laws and council processes change, and your circumstances may differ, so please check with the council or take professional advice for your own situation. We try to keep content accurate, and show "last reviewed" dates, but we can't guarantee it is complete or up to date.
2. Calculator and guide prices. The calculator and the prices on this site give a guide price only. They are not a quote or an offer. A price becomes binding only when we give you a written quote and you accept it. The final price may differ, because it depends on what we find on site.
3. Using the site. You agree to use the site lawfully, not to misuse it or attempt to disrupt it, and to give accurate information in forms. We may suspend or withdraw access at any time.
4. Intellectual property. The content, design, text, images and calculator on this site belong to us or our licensors. You may view and print pages for personal use, and link to the site, but you may not copy, republish, scrape or sell the content without our written permission.
5. Links to other sites. We link to third-party sites, including councils and government bodies. We don't control them and aren't responsible for their content.
6. Our liability for the site. We provide the website "as is". To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for loss arising from your use of or reliance on general information on the site, or from interruptions or errors in the site. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that can't lawfully be limited.
7. Privacy. See our Privacy Policy.
These terms apply to work we carry out for you.
8. Quotes. After a site visit or review of your photos we'll give you a written quote, itemising the work, what's included (including waste removal and stump grinding), the total price and whether it includes VAT. A quote is valid for 30 days unless it says otherwise. We may change a quote if the site or the work turns out to differ materially from what we saw or were told, and we'll tell you before going ahead.
9. Accepting a quote. A contract is formed when you accept our written quote by signing it, replying to confirm, or paying a deposit.
10. Your responsibilities. You confirm that:
11. Protected trees and permissions. Before we quote, we check whether your tree is protected. If a council application or notice is needed, we can prepare and submit it for you, but we can't start work until consent is granted or the notice period has passed. We aren't responsible for the council's decision, or for delays in it. We carry out the work only as consented. Preparing the application or notice is included in the price unless the quote says otherwise.
12. Wildlife. We check for nesting birds and bats, which are protected by law. If we find an active nest or a protected species, work may need to be delayed, paused or varied, and we'll tell you. Additional visits may carry an extra charge, which we'll agree with you first.
13. Dates, weather and delays. Dates are estimates. We may need to rearrange for bad weather, safety, wildlife, access problems, council processes or circumstances beyond our control. We'll tell you promptly and agree a new date.
14. Price and payment. You'll pay the price in the accepted quote on completion. For larger jobs we may ask for a deposit on acceptance, which the quote will state. Payment is due within 7 days of invoice by bank transfer, card or cash. If you ask us to do extra work, we'll agree the price before starting.
15. Cancelling.
16. Standard of work. We'll carry out the work with reasonable care and skill, in line with good practice and recognised standards such as BS 3998, using suitably qualified people. If the work isn't carried out with reasonable care and skill, you have legal rights, including to ask us to put it right. This doesn't affect your statutory rights as a consumer.
17. Complaints. If you're not happy, please tell us in writing as soon as possible, giving details, and give us the chance to put things right. We'll respond within 5 working days. If we can't resolve it, you may be able to use an alternative dispute resolution service, and you can get advice from Citizens Advice.
18. Insurance and damage. We hold public liability insurance of £5 million, and employers' liability insurance where required. If you believe we've damaged property, tell us as soon as possible, with photographs, and we'll deal with it under our insurance. To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for damage caused by hidden services or conditions we couldn't reasonably have known about, such as unmarked cables or pipes, or decay inside a tree that wasn't visible.
19. Waste. We'll remove arisings as set out in the quote. We're registered as a waste carrier. Where you've asked to keep logs or woodchip, they're yours once cut.
20. Our liability. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can't lawfully be excluded or limited. Subject to that, and to your statutory rights as a consumer, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability for any claim relating to a job is limited to the price of that job.
21. Business customers. If you're a landlord, managing agent or business, rather than a consumer, the consumer rights above (including the 14-day cancellation right) don't apply, and we'll agree any additional terms in the quote.
22. Events beyond our control. We aren't liable for delay or failure caused by events beyond our reasonable control, such as severe weather, emergencies, council delays, illness or supply failures.
23. Changes. We may update these terms. The version that applied when you accepted a quote governs that job.
24. Entire agreement. These terms, your accepted quote and any notices we give you form the whole agreement for a job.
25. Third parties. Only you and we can enforce this contract, apart from where the law says otherwise.
26. Governing law. These terms and any dispute are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, though if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may bring proceedings in your home courts. As a consumer you keep any mandatory rights you have under the law where you live.
